  1. Q: What is changing with the distribution of Essential Form updates?

    A: Updates will no longer be distributed via a physical disc. Beginning June 2022, we started notifying customers of major form and software updates through email. Before form changes become effective, you will receive an email with a link to download the update. Major form updates typically occur in January and July. Additional form updates that occur throughout the year will be distributed automatically using the Essential Forms Updater feature, as is currently done.

  2. Q: Why is CEB no longer sending disc updates?

    A: CEB is discontinuing Essential Forms on CD-ROM to make it easier, more efficient, and faster for our subscribers to receive form updates and software. This change also helps set the technical foundation for future improvements to our subscription management and online software distribution process.

  3. Q: How will I receive form and software updates going forward?

    A: Beginning in June 2022, we started notifying customers of major form and software updates through email. Additional form updates that occur throughout the year will be distributed automatically using the Essential Forms Updater feature, as is currently done.

  4. Q: What is included in the update?

    A: The JC Update is emailed every six months the first of July and January. Each JC Update contains JC form changes effective July 1st or January 1st, updated non-JC forms set, and bug fixes and software enhancements. Click here for details.

  5. Q: Will I still receive invoices in the mail?

    A: No, you will no longer receive annual paper renewal invoices in the mail. Invoices will be sent via email. Make sure you have set up your ceb.com account to ensure we have the best email address for you and to prevent any interruption in service.

  6. Q: I’m a subscriber to an individual county module and I noticed more counties are now available to me in Essential Forms. Did the county packages change?

    A: CEB is no longer offering subscriptions to individual county forms modules. We are moving individual county form subscribers to one of five regional county form packages. The county packages are:

  • Bay Area including Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Marin, Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte. The retail price is $225.

  • Capital including Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Yolo, Solano, San Joaquin, Butte, Glenn, and Colusa. The retail price is $225.

  • Central including Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa, Fresno, Kings, Madera, Kern, Tulare, Inyo, Monterey, San Benito, and San Luis Obispo. The retail price is $185.

  • SoCal including Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The retail price is $299.

  • All Counties including all the counties listed above plus Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Tehama, Trinity, Sierra, Nevada, Yuba, Siskiyou, Alpine, Mono, and Sutter. The retail price is $675.

We’ve automatically moved you to the package that includes the individual county to which you currently subscribe. For the first year, individual county subscribers will receive a discount on the package prices. If you have any questions, please contact CEB Customer Support at 1-800-232-3444.

8. Q: My individual county module subscription has been moved to a regional

county pack. Will I receive a discount?

A: Yes, current subscribers of individual counties will receive a discount for the

first year on the package prices. If you have any questions, please contact

CEB Customer Support at 1-800-232-3444.

9. Q: Can I still purchase individual county form sets that aren’t part of a

package?

A: CEB is no longer offering subscriptions to individual county forms modules.

10. Q: Will there be any changes to how county form updates are distributed?

A: No, county form updates will be automatically distributed through the

Essential Forms Updater feature, as is currently done.

11. Q: How can I pay for my Essential Forms subscription?

A: You can make a payment in one of three ways:

1. You can make an online payment by credit card at

https://research.ceb.com/account/invoices. You can also save this credit card

on your account so that in the future your annual renewal invoice will be

automatically paid.

2. If you wish to pay by check, make checks payable to the Regents of

University of California and mail to Continuing Education of the Bar, P.O. Box

3. You can call our Customer Support team to pay via credit card: 1-800-232-

12. Q: How can I purchase a county package?

A: Call CEB Customer Support at 1-800-232-3444 if you wish to purchase an

additional county package.
