When opening CEB Essential forms, I'm getting an error saying "Failed to flush cached data into the file Clients.dbf. Error(1784): The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation."

Go under Start>File Explorer and navigate to the CEB folder under C:/Users/Public/Documents/CEB and right-click and copy the CEB folder. Navigate to the root of the C: drive and right-click and paste the CEB folder right on the root of the C: drive. It will look like C:/CEB/Essential Forms Data. You might get a series of errors about an unexpected error during the copy/paste process of the data folder to the C:/drive. Clicking the box, "do this for all current items" and then clicking the "Skip" button in that window worked.

When it finishes copying the data files/folders, then, right-click on the Essential Forms shortcut, click "Properties" then in the "Shortcut" tab put the cursor in the "Target" window all the way at the far right-side outside of the closed quotes. Put a space /q . It will look like this (depending on where your "Target" is launching from):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Essential Publishers\Essential Forms Premium\Efwin32.exe" /q

Then click, "Apply" and "Ok". Launch the Essential Forms program once like that. You will be asked to Please Select an Essential Forms Data folder location.

Change data path to that new location C:/CEB/Essential Forms Data. Highlight Essential Forms Data. Click Apply and Ok. Launch Essential Forms. Once it opens, close the program.

Then remove the /q on shortcut Properties>Shortcut>Target. If you wanted to rename or delete the copy of the data folder under C:/Users/Public/Documents/CEB you might need to reboot the station. It’s okay to leave the current data folder without renaming or deleting. It would be best to rename if possible.

One last step you might open Essential Forms click on the Forms Library tab click on the Form Lists folder. Check the list on the right-side do you show all your installed Judicial Council, Non-Judicial Council and Local County form groups? If not, you may need to reinstall the latest Judicial Council and/or Local County pack(s).

If you need help with this procedure please reach out with your CEB Customer Number to CEB tech support at: tech_support@ceb.ucla.edu
