Welcome to OnLAW Pro! We've designed this platform to provide a more modern, intuitive research experience, while maintaining the trusted capabilities of OnLAW. This article should help you familiarize yourself with it more quickly, so you can experience the benefits of the updated platform faster.
The new homepage puts search, front and center, followed by your favorited secondary sources, your search, view, and browse history, and the latest legal news.
Search
Type your natural language or keyword search query here to get relevant results across all CEB content types, including secondary sources, news, and primary law. OnLAW Pro recognizes common code name abbreviations, like MSJ and CEQA, and will search for cases using the case names or citation in any format.
When searching from the homepage, you are taken to the dynamic All results page, where you will see the top three results from each content type. The content types will be arranged from most relevant results to least relevant.
Use the content tabs just under the search bar to navigate to the full results for a specific content type. Each type of content has it's own set of filters to help you narrow the results.
Secondary Sources
You can find the four CJER and CEB co-published titles under the Secondary Sources tab at the top of the page.
To search within a title, enter key terms or natural language into the search bar on any page. Navigate to the Secondary Sources tab, click Filter Search to the right of the tabs. Use the “Titles” filter to narrow your results to a specific title.
Primary Law
OnLAW Pro gives you direct, searchable access to our full primary law database, and when you click a primary law citation in a secondary source, it appears in the lower right corner of the screen to help you maintain your focus on the research.
History
Because all CJER members share the same log in credentials, the History section will show the search, view, and browse history of everyone who uses the account.
Legal News
The six most recent CEB News articles appear on your new homepage. To view the full News feed, click the News tab at the top, or “Read more News” under the six articles.
⚠️ Please do not "Customize your News Feed," as you are sharing this news feed with all other CJER members.
Copy with Cite
You now have access to our Copy with Cite feature, which appears in the right margin when you highlight text in primary law and secondary sources. Select whether you want the citation to appear according to the California style rules or the Standard style rules (Blue Book). Click Copy, then paste as usual into any document or email.
